History
The Professional Poppitt machine was designed and created by Mike Reynolds, former Pharmacist, during the early 2000’s in association with the University of Exeter.
Mike was concerned about the huge amount of de-blistering work that pharmacies, and in particular dispensers & technicians were having to do in order to fulfil the increasing numbers of monitored dosage packages for the community. With the advent of more patient packs for all medication and the disappearance of the “bulk pack”, dispensers and technicians were becoming more and more exposed to the possibility of repetitive strain injury to their fingers and thumbs - hence the development of the Poppitt device.
The Professional Poppitt Device
The Poppitt device is an electronic de-blistering machine that does not occupy much space on the dispensing bench and can help de-blister medication in seconds. Measuring just 22cm long,15 cm wide and 20 cm tall, it can slot next to your printers, under the lower shelves or just have its own pride of place in your dispensary. The internal components have been tested to 3 million actuations and the device has passed all necessary electrical safety tests.
The reliability of The Professional Poppitt machine has been proven over the last 16 years, and improvements have been made along the way. The device comes with a full 12 months warranty, with a speedy return to workshop service, and soon extended warranties will be offered for extra peace of mind.
Future
In August 2019, Pharma Innovations Ltd bought the assets and rights of The Poppitt Company Ltd, and now under the directorship of Alastair Carmichael, Pharmacist and Business Consultant, the future for The Poppitt Company looks very strong.
In partnership with its current suppliers and distributors, Pharma Innovations intends to market The Professional Poppitt device further afield than its current UK and European markets. In the European market, the arrival of the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) has meant that more and more medications are being produced in smaller individual patient packs, and there is the potential for more and more de-blistering work.
